Performances

“Col Legno presented a superb performance and each artist shared their expertise with students during clinics. They are wonderful performers and educators.” – John R. Beck, NC School of the Arts; President of the Percussive Arts Society

Col Legno performs a wide variety of compositions in both full and partial recital formats. The duo has performed works written for bassoon and percussion by Verne Reynolds and Gene Koshinski, and they have also arranged pieces by J.S. Bach, Astor Piazzolla, Eric Satie, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Luigi Boccherini, and Andrew Beall. The group is constantly working on new arrangements and exploring opportunities through commissions. Col Legno mainly features the combination of bassoon and marimba but also presents unique pairings of bassoon with various percussion instruments.

Percussion Classes

Fuquay HS 7 GA Day of Perc 1
Throughout his distinguished career of performing with some of the world’s finest ensembles, Scott has always been an educator at heart. He has instructed percussionists of all ages and backgrounds on just about every percussion instrument you can name. While touring with Col Legno, Scott offers clinics on standard and unusual techniques for auxiliary percussion, snare drum, mallets, and timpani, with an emphasis on creativity in the large ensemble. He also offers clinics to help students prepare for high school, college, and professional auditions. In a master class setting, Scott frequently works with soloists, chamber groups, percussion ensembles, and steel bands. Scott is fortunate to have dedicated clinic sponsorship from Zildjian, Vic Firth, and Majestic. In addition to providing additional funding, these companies are always eager to send promotional materials (including free sticks, mallets, stickers, posters, etc) to host schools and their students. Please email Scott to discuss options for your school or ensemble.
